Salty Mermaid BFFs

I am so proud of my BFF4L Rachel. I know, I'm lame, but I don't care. We have a history of taking awkward nose picking pictures. Reference picture from my wedding below. Note this is not the first in the series. Considering we've been friends since we were 10, that's a lot of nose picking pictures. I'll have to find and share the rest of them someday. Until then, we'll talk about her bathroom. I feel like this might be an awkward first paragraph if you didn't know us...

So my wonderful, amazing, really miss him since he's still in Panama City husband came down over the weekend. It ended up being a crappy, rainy, overcast, Florida winter weekend, and instead of taking the boat out to the sandbar or laying on the beach while he kiteboards, Patrick and I made our way up to Rachel and Keith's house in Jensen Beach and helped them do stuff like paint walls, take out cabinets, and install the washer and dryer. They got their home about a year ago now, and have progressively taken everything out to the studs, and more, where applicable, and been putting it back together in a beautiful tropical chic type style.

One such awesome project is their bathroom. (I am SO in freaking LOVE with her kitchen but I'll have to come over and help her paint some more because I didn't take pictures this time. Plus I want to show it done because it's already amazing when it's not completely done.)

I really don't know what their guest bathroom looked like before, but I have a good guess it was probably something like orange shag carpet, brown rotting trim, mold, old Florida tiles, and brown spotted mirrors. It's beautiful now though. Travertine floors, a custom vanity and sink Keith retrofitted out of a cabinet from Homegoods and some steals from Home Depot and Rachel's crystal knobs, and with some mirrored plexiglass instead of actual mirror to save a few hundred bucks....

brand new cute tile, new tub, a new ergonomic toilet with its no slam lid... only Rachel...

and i. want. this. sign. But if it were in my house, it'd probably be lime green or something. And I'd probably waste three cans of spray paint to get it there.

But owning a house, her amazing taste and the way their house is coming together aren't the only reasons I'm proud of Rachel. She also started her own Etsy shop called The Salty Mermaid. Rachel can apparently sew (who knew?!) and makes clutches and bags with names like "Florida Clutch" and "Shiver Me Timbers Clutch". I'll have to get me one of them, or I'll just wait until my birthday and drop lots of hints that I want one.
