My mama's office.

So I have totally been procrastinating. Or in the terms of a young engineer working tons of hours a week after moving and who likes to blog on the side, I'm super busy, and not posting about Mom's new office, even though it's way more fun than some of the things I have to do/think about during the rest of the day.

I love how her office came out, even though it's already gotten totally messy and I still haven't helped my mom put up curtains or started putting up pictures. I have a couple frames though, does that count?

The first picture was taken before we put the couch in the little nook.

I love this old chest of my mom's, and it was put to good use in this room as a little coffee table. The lamp came with the house my sister bought... she bought her house from original owners who hand-built all their furniture. Then my mom spray painted the lamp white, and we rigged a $2 lampshade from Goodwill to give it a little bit of awesome. The rug and pillow are both from Ikea. I want to put her gallery wall above the couch, kind of like how I mention here

Messy wires. Gasp. C'est la vie. (never actually spelled that before... definitely had to look it up.) The desk and bookshelf are both a good size for this room (Ikea Micke desk and Expedit shelves).

The painting is a picture of one of our homes in Vermont, this one was in Waterbury, painted by my grandmother. The picture is an old picture of me from high school, and the lamp I made in ceramics class my junior year of high school. I figured that because this is my old room, it still has to represent some of my years living there. All sentimental, when I really think all my mom wanted was just somewhere to peacefully do her thang on the computer...

And a throwback to where it started. Too bad I don't have a chronological slideshow of what I've put my room through throughout the years. It's been all sorts of colors.

Proof in this picture of how I kind of destroyed my old bedroom....

It took way more time than we thought it would to make those walls smooth again. At least we know how to fix it now.
