#bordnergreatadventure Arkansas

What a state of pure beauty! One of my brothers-in-law is from Arkansas, so we made it a point to ask him for some suggestions - and then was shocked when we actually did it!

We left Monroe, Louisiana, and arrived in Hot Springs, Arkansas on Friday, March 25th... (yep, I'm a little behind... bear with me!) and stayed at Hot Springs KOA. The KOA was really nice, and randomly missed some Florida friends of ours by a day who were there the couple nights before we got there! Never having heard of "bathhouses" before, we got the camper all set up, then packed back up to bring the kids for a walk downtown. Harlee was intrigued by the natural hot spring fountains.

We enjoyed some din din and brews at Superior Bathhouse Brewery.

On Saturday, we did a 2.5 mile hike in St. Catherine State Park to a little waterfall. This outing was our first "real" hike of the trip, and it felt amazing!! When I pictured this adventure, it included lots of beautiful trails with incredible views... and although a smaller waterfall, it didn't disappoint!

Easter Sunday, 2016! Let me tell you about a Florida girl in mountains, while her loving & trusted husband is driving a F-150 towing a 28' camper... this drive had me rolling on all the essential oils and closing my eyes... and praying. It was, however, worth it! We made it to Hawksbill Crag to Whitaker's Point Trail after having to leave our camper at the base of the mountain dirt road. This hike was gorgeous, and a bit tough! Declan rode on my back in the Boba carrier, and this was before we picked up a hiking pack for Harlee, so Harlee was on Patrick's shoulders for the entire hike.

The view was insane. Despite my insane fear of heights, I managed this photo. Patrick made fun of me because there's really a ton more rock to go before the edge.

He and Declan were a little more adventurous.

We made it to Saddlebock Brewery that night and camped in the fields there for free, compliments of Harvest Hosts. The delicious beer wasn't so bad, either, especially after a tough day of hiking!

So Easter Sunday, we went on a gorgeous hike, made it, and enjoyed some cold beers at the end of a long day... I'd say it was a pretty amazing Sunday!
